In Zavy360, We use a universal driver called TWAIN which allows us to capture from many different devices relatively easily. The way it works as TWAIN acts as the bridge between Zavy (Web) and Local devices (X-ray hardware and scanners etc.)

If the device is slow to load/preview the initial image it is usually due to the X-ray device or TWAIN software starting and trying to establish a connection.

Speed can be increased by changing the settings in the Scanner Settings Panel, the lower the quality of the capture the faster it will display and upload to the cloud.

To go to the Scanner Settings Panel:

Go to the Patient Profile that you will be scanning for > Click Imaging on the Upper Right Part of the Screen > On the Drawer, Click Webscan.

Settings

The 2 main settings to experiment with your devices are: Resolution and Colour

DPI which is how crisp the image is, the higher the DPI the better quality but the more data has to be transferred.

Colour:

  • Grayscale is generally at least half the size of colour at can be up to 10x smaller than colour. It’s worth seeing if your practitioners require colour and selecting Gray if they can get away with it.

  • B&W (Black and White) is used generally for upload low quality scans or documents as PDF and not used for anything else, it is not good for x-rays or imaging

By changing these settings there is a 500% - 2000% difference in file size which means it will be 500% slower to upload and even longer if you are in a slow internet area.

Note: Once the image has been capture please make sure you click on UPLOAD Image or UPLOAD PDF, the image is not saved until this is clicked, if you close the drawer before you upload the image is lost.
